Medical City McKinney Behavioral Health & Rehabilitation Hospital
McKinney, TX
This behavioral and rehabilitation hospital is integrated within a larger medical center as a new addition, although the design still provided a new front door and identity for each service line. One of the main design features – the outdoor areas created as healing environments to enhance the patient experience. The 81,800 SF facility with inpatient, outpatient and emergency mental health services for adolescents and adults, includes 80 behavioral health beds (24 geriatric beds and 56 adult beds). The behavioral health patient rooms are semi-private, and the floor is divided into (4) nursing units with clinical support spaces. A dedicated dining and servery is provided for patient use and can be divided into separate spaces for patient activities and events as needed. Two secure outdoor courtyards are also provided for supervised patient therapy and activities. Also includes 20 acute rehabilitation inpatient beds and clinical support services. Additional components of the ongoing campus building program: Rehabilitation Institute completed 2020; In-Patient bed tower, ED Expansion, and renovations throughout the existing hospital currently under construction.
