Sutter Health, Eden Medical Center

Located on an urban site in Castro Valley, CA, the design of the Sutter Eden Medical Center addressed challenging site conditions and maintained full operation of the existing medical campus during phased construction of the new replacement hospital on a hillside location. The project design incorporates innovations targeted at minimizing patient travel, maximizing hospital throughput and increasing operational efficiencies. This new 238,000 sf replacement facility is designed to satisfy SB 1953, California’s Hospital Facilities Seismic Safety Act.
